OPERATIONS

The Del City Fire Department is an all-paid, career fire department. There are five administrative positions and 30 operations positions. The operations division is the largest division of the fire department, and includes fire suppression, emergency medical response, HAZMAT response and technical rescue response. The 30 operations positions are divided among three platoons and operate out of two stations. The Station 1 Captain serves as the shift commander for that shift. Major Steve Fernandez is the Training Officer/Safety Officer for the Department and is responsible for all training, licensure, certifications and compliance issues for the personnel.  All personnel are trained to the EMT-Basic level and are HAZMAT OPS trained. The department responds to approximately 3900 calls for service annually and has an average response time of 3 minutes.
